Partially dated coins from the 1715 Fleet are scarce as is, with more of the date visible the rarity goes up even more especially when considering the various rare dates of this series of coinage. This rare dated piece features a rarely seen date of 1709. the back digit of the date is visible along with the obverse mint mark and shield indicating the date as well. Reverse shows nicely struck lions and castles of the pre 1712 reverse type.
