Rare 1/4 Reale Diego de la Torre Assayer in 14kt Gold Mount, Philip II Era, Lima Mint, 1577-1588, 4.46 including bezel, Mule Trail.

This scarce and not common denomination features a unique coin die design. Showing a castle and part of the assayer on one side and a lion as well as the star of magi and part of the assayer mark on the other this is the only time this design was used on coins in Lima, specific to Diego de la Torre himself. Set in a full and heavy 14kt Gold Mount, Recovered from the Mule Trail outside modern day Lima.
